These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern participation in, registration for, attendance at, and use of the website and services relating to TiE SmashUp 9.0 (“SmashUp” or the “Event”), organised by TiE Rajasthan (“Organiser”, “TiE”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

The Event is scheduled to be held on 6–7 October 2026 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, including the Investor Speed Dating on 6 October 2026 and the Unconference and related activities on 7 October 2026.

By accessing the SmashUp website, submitting an application, registering for the Event, purchasing a pass, accepting an invitation, or attending or participating in the Event in any capacity, you (“Participant”, “Attendee”, “Applicant”, “Startup”, “Investor”, “Speaker”, “Partner”, “Sponsor”, “Exhibitor” or “you”) acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms.

1. EVENT ORGANISER

TiE SmashUp is organised by TiE Rajasthan.

The Organiser reserves the right to manage, modify and administer the Event, its programme, format, participants and activities in such manner as it considers appropriate.

2. EVENT FORMAT

TiE SmashUp 9.0 is a startup and entrepreneurial ecosystem event that may include, among other activities:

  • Investor Speed Dating;
  • startup–investor meetings;
  • the SmashUp Unconference;
  • keynote sessions;
  • panel discussions;
  • founder conversations;
  • workshops;
  • networking sessions;
  • open pitches;
  • startup showcases;
  • awards and recognition programmes;
  • partner and sponsor activities;
  • dinners and networking events; and
  • other activities announced by the Organiser.

The exact programme, speakers, investors, venues, timings, sessions and activities may be changed by the Organiser at its discretion.

3. REGISTRATION AND ELIGIBILITY

Registration for SmashUp is subject to availability and any eligibility criteria specified by the Organiser.

Submitting a registration form, application or payment does not automatically guarantee participation in every activity of the Event.

The Organiser reserves the right to:

  • accept or reject any registration or application;
  • restrict the number or category of participants;
  • establish eligibility criteria for specific sessions;
  • close registrations before the announced deadline;
  • verify information submitted by participants; and
  • revoke a registration where information provided is incorrect, misleading or fraudulent.

Participants must provide complete and accurate information during registration.

4. STARTUP APPLICATIONS AND SELECTION

Applications for participation in startup-focused activities, including Investor Speed Dating, pitch sessions, showcases or awards, may be subject to evaluation and shortlisting.

Submission of an application does not guarantee selection.

The Organiser and/or its appointed screening committee, jury, mentors, investors or ecosystem experts may evaluate applications based on criteria determined by them.

Selection decisions shall be made at the discretion of the Organiser and the relevant evaluation committee.

The Organiser is not obligated to disclose individual scores, evaluation notes, reasons for selection or rejection, or deliberations of the selection committee.

Decisions regarding selection and participation shall be final.

5. INVESTOR SPEED DATING

Participation in Investor Speed Dating is intended to facilitate introductions and discussions between startups and investors.

Participation does not constitute or guarantee investment, funding, due diligence, commercial engagement, partnership or any other transaction.

The Organiser does not guarantee:

  • the number of investor meetings;
  • meetings with any particular investor;
  • the duration of meetings;
  • investor interest;
  • follow-up meetings;
  • due diligence;
  • funding;
  • investment commitments; or
  • successful completion of any transaction.

Investor availability may change at any time due to circumstances beyond the Organiser’s control.

The Organiser acts solely as a facilitator and is not a party to any investment, funding, commercial or other transaction that may arise between participants.

6. NO INVESTMENT OR FINANCIAL ADVICE

Nothing communicated, presented or discussed at SmashUp shall constitute investment, financial, legal, tax or professional advice by the Organiser.

Any investment discussions, expressions of interest, representations or commitments are solely between the relevant startup and investor.

Participants are responsible for conducting their own legal, financial, commercial and technical due diligence before entering into any transaction.

The Organiser shall not be responsible for any investment decision, financial loss, failed transaction or dispute arising from interactions initiated or conducted at the Event.

7. INFORMATION PROVIDED BY STARTUPS

Startups participating in SmashUp are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness and legality of information provided in:

  • application forms;
  • pitch decks;
  • financial projections;
  • business plans;
  • presentations;
  • demonstrations;
  • promotional material; and
  • verbal or written representations.

The Organiser does not independently verify all claims made by participating startups.

Submission or presentation of information at SmashUp does not constitute endorsement or verification by TiE Rajasthan.

8. CONFIDENTIALITY AND DISCLOSURE OF BUSINESS INFORMATION

SmashUp is a networking and public/semi-public entrepreneurial event.

Participants should not assume that information disclosed during applications, pitches, presentations, meetings or networking sessions will be treated as confidential, unless a separate confidentiality agreement has been executed directly between the relevant parties.

Participants are responsible for determining what information they choose to disclose.

The Organiser shall not be responsible for any use, disclosure, copying or dissemination of information voluntarily shared by a participant during the Event.

Startups are encouraged to protect confidential information, intellectual property and trade secrets appropriately before presenting them.

9. EVENT PASSES AND ACCESS

Event passes, badges, QR codes, invitations or other access credentials may be issued to registered participants.

Unless expressly permitted by the Organiser, passes are personal and may not be:

  • resold;
  • duplicated;
  • copied;
  • transferred; or
  • used by another person.

Participants may be required to present valid identification for entry.

The Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry where registration details cannot be verified.

10. REGISTRATION FEES AND PAYMENT

All registration fees displayed on the website are payable through the authorised payment mechanism specified by the Organiser.

Applicable taxes, payment gateway charges or other charges may be added where applicable.

Registration shall be considered confirmed only upon successful receipt of payment and confirmation from the Organiser.

The Organiser shall not be responsible for failed payments caused by banks, payment gateways, card networks or other third-party payment providers.

11. CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Unless expressly stated otherwise by the Organiser:

All Event registrations and passes are non-refundable and non-transferable once purchased.

No refund shall ordinarily be provided for:

  • participant cancellation;
  • inability to attend;
  • travel disruptions;
  • visa issues;
  • illness;
  • scheduling conflicts;
  • failure to attend;
  • late arrival;
  • partial attendance;
  • change in speakers, investors or programme;
  • inability to participate in a particular session; or
  • any other personal circumstances.

Where the Event is cancelled entirely by the Organiser for reasons other than Force Majeure, the Organiser may announce an appropriate refund, credit or transfer policy.

Any such policy shall be communicated separately to affected participants.

12. EVENT POSTPONEMENT, MODIFICATION OR CANCELLATION

The Organiser reserves the right to change:

  • Event dates;
  • venues;
  • timings;
  • format;
  • programme;
  • speakers;
  • investors;
  • moderators;
  • sessions;
  • activities;
  • seating arrangements; or
  • participation requirements.

Such changes shall not ordinarily entitle participants to a refund.

Where reasonably possible, material changes will be communicated through the website, email, WhatsApp, social media or other appropriate channels.

13. FORCE MAJEURE

The Organiser shall not be liable for delay, modification, postponement or cancellation caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • natural disasters;
  • floods;
  • earthquakes;
  • fire;
  • extreme weather;
  • epidemics or pandemics;
  • acts of God;
  • war;
  • terrorism;
  • civil unrest;
  • strikes;
  • government restrictions;
  • court orders;
  • public health restrictions;
  • transportation disruptions;
  • venue unavailability;
  • failure of utilities or telecommunications;
  • security threats; or
  • other unforeseen circumstances.

In such circumstances, the Organiser may postpone, relocate, modify, conduct virtually or cancel the Event.

The Organiser shall not be responsible for travel, accommodation or other expenses incurred by participants.

14. SPEAKERS, INVESTORS AND PROGRAMME

All announced speakers, investors, mentors and programme details are subject to change.

The Organiser does not guarantee the attendance of any particular speaker, investor, mentor, founder or other participant.

Substitution, withdrawal or cancellation by any speaker or investor shall not constitute grounds for a refund.

15. TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION

Unless specifically stated otherwise, participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own:

  • transportation;
  • flights;
  • trains;
  • local travel;
  • accommodation;
  • meals outside the Event programme;
  • insurance; and
  • other personal expenses.

Where the Organiser facilitates accommodation or travel for selected speakers, investors or guests, such arrangements may be subject to separate conditions.

The Organiser shall not be responsible for delays, cancellations, loss or inconvenience caused by airlines, hotels, transportation providers or other third parties.

16. CODE OF CONDUCT

SmashUp is intended to provide a professional, respectful and inclusive environment.

Participants must behave professionally and must not engage in:

  • harassment;
  • discrimination;
  • intimidation;
  • threatening behaviour;
  • violence;
  • abusive or offensive conduct;
  • unwanted physical contact;
  • deliberate disruption of sessions;
  • unauthorised solicitation;
  • fraudulent activity;
  • damage to property; or
  • conduct that adversely affects the Event or other participants.

The Organiser may remove any person from the Event for inappropriate behaviour without refund or compensation.

Serious incidents may be reported to venue security or appropriate authorities.

17. RIGHT TO REFUSE OR REVOKE ADMISSION

The Organiser reserves the right to refuse admission or revoke participation, without refund where appropriate, if a participant:

  • breaches these Terms;
  • behaves inappropriately;
  • creates a safety or security concern;
  • provides false information;
  • misuses an Event pass;
  • disrupts the Event;
  • violates venue rules; or
  • acts in a manner considered detrimental to the Event, TiE or other participants.

18. VENUE RULES AND SAFETY

Participants must comply with all rules, security procedures, emergency procedures and instructions issued by the Organiser or Event venue.

Participants are responsible for their own personal safety and belongings.

The Organiser may implement security screening and access controls where considered necessary.

19. PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEOGRAPHY AND RECORDING

SmashUp may be photographed, filmed, livestreamed and otherwise recorded.

By attending the Event, participants acknowledge that photographs, video footage or audio recordings containing their image, likeness or voice may be captured during the Event.

Such material may be used by TiE Rajasthan and its authorised partners for legitimate Event-related purposes, including:

  • Event documentation;
  • websites;
  • social media;
  • newsletters;
  • reports;
  • press and media coverage;
  • promotional material;
  • archival material; and
  • promotion of future TiE programmes and events.

Where legally required, specific consent will be obtained.

Participants who have a particular concern regarding photography or recording should contact the Organiser before the Event.

20. PARTICIPANT PHOTOGRAPHY AND RECORDING

Personal photography and recording may be permitted subject to Event and venue rules.

Professional recording, livestreaming, commercial photography or recording of restricted sessions without prior permission may be prohibited.

Participants must respect requests from speakers, investors or other attendees not to record confidential or restricted discussions.

21. MEDIA AND PRESS

Accredited media representatives may attend SmashUp.

Participation in media interviews is voluntary unless otherwise agreed.

The Organiser is not responsible for independent reporting, commentary, photographs, videos or other content published by third-party media organisations or participants.

22. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All Event-related intellectual property belonging to the Organiser, including the TiE SmashUp name, logos, branding, website design, graphics, programme materials and Event content, remains the property of the Organiser or respective rights holders.

No participant may reproduce, distribute, modify, commercially exploit or use such intellectual property without prior written permission.

Speakers and participants retain ownership of their independently owned intellectual property contained in their presentations or materials.

23. USE OF TiE AND SMASHUP BRANDING

Participation in the Event does not grant any participant the right to represent themselves as endorsed, sponsored, funded or officially affiliated with TiE Rajasthan unless specifically authorised in writing.

Use of TiE or SmashUp logos for commercial or promotional purposes requires prior written approval.

Participants may factually state that they attended or participated in SmashUp.

24. SPONSORS, PARTNERS AND EXHIBITORS

Sponsors, ecosystem partners, exhibitors and other commercial participants may be subject to separate agreements.

Nothing in these Terms overrides a written sponsorship, partnership or exhibitor agreement executed with the Organiser.

The Organiser does not automatically endorse products or services offered by sponsors, partners or exhibitors.

Participants interact with such organisations at their own discretion.

25. THIRD-PARTY PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

The Event and website may contain references or links to third-party websites, platforms, payment gateways, hotels, transportation providers or other services.

The Organiser does not control such third parties and shall not be responsible for their:

  • services;
  • availability;
  • privacy practices;
  • security;
  • content;
  • pricing; or
  • performance.

Use of third-party services may be governed by separate terms.

26. PERSONAL DATA AND PRIVACY

During registration and participation, the Organiser may collect information including:

  • name;
  • contact details;
  • designation;
  • organisation/company;
  • startup information;
  • professional profile;
  • dietary or logistical preferences where required;
  • payment-related transaction information;
  • photographs and recordings; and
  • other information voluntarily submitted.

Information may be processed for legitimate Event-related purposes including:

  • registration and verification;
  • Event administration;
  • communication;
  • matchmaking;
  • scheduling meetings;
  • attendee management;
  • security;
  • networking;
  • Event analytics;
  • certificates;
  • Event directories;
  • feedback; and
  • compliance with applicable laws.

Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable Indian data-protection laws and the Organiser’s Privacy Policy.

27. SHARING INFORMATION WITH INVESTORS, PARTNERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS

Where relevant to participation, information submitted by startups or attendees may be shared with:

  • participating investors;
  • jury members;
  • mentors;
  • Event partners;
  • technology providers;
  • registration providers;
  • payment processors;
  • venue and hospitality providers;
  • Event management agencies; and
  • other service providers assisting in organising SmashUp.

Only information reasonably required for the relevant purpose should be shared.

By applying for Investor Speed Dating or similar activities, startups acknowledge that relevant application and company information may be shared with participating investors and evaluators for screening, matchmaking and meetings.

28. COMMUNICATIONS

By registering, participants agree to receive communications reasonably necessary for administration of the Event through channels including:

  • email;
  • telephone;
  • SMS;
  • WhatsApp; and
  • other digital communication platforms.

Marketing or future-event communications shall be handled in accordance with applicable law and consent requirements.

Participants may request to opt out of non-essential promotional communications.

29. WEBSITE USE

Users must not:

  • interfere with the operation or security of the website;
  • attempt unauthorised access;
  • introduce viruses or malicious code;
  • scrape or extract data without permission;
  • impersonate another person;
  • submit fraudulent information; or
  • use the website for unlawful purposes.

The Organiser may restrict or terminate website access where misuse is suspected.

30. WEBSITE INFORMATION AND ERRORS

The Organiser endeavours to maintain accurate Event information but does not warrant that all website content will always be complete, current or error-free.

The Organiser may correct typographical errors, pricing errors, programme information or other inaccuracies at any time.

Where website information conflicts with an official communication subsequently issued by the Organiser, the latest official communication shall prevail.

31. NETWORKING AND PARTICIPANT INTERACTIONS

SmashUp facilitates professional networking but does not supervise or guarantee interactions between participants.

Participants are responsible for evaluating persons or organisations they meet through the Event before entering into any business, employment, investment or commercial relationship.

The Organiser shall not be responsible for disputes or losses arising from participant-to-participant dealings.

32. PERSONAL PROPERTY

Participants remain responsible for their personal belongings, including laptops, mobile phones, documents, bags and valuables.

The Organiser and venue shall not be responsible for loss, theft or damage except to the extent liability cannot legally be excluded.

33. HEALTH AND MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Participants are responsible for assessing whether they are medically fit to attend and participate in Event activities.

Any participant requiring special assistance should inform the Organiser sufficiently in advance.

In an emergency, the Organiser may contact emergency medical services but shall not be responsible for medical costs incurred.

34. FOOD AND BEVERAGES

Where food and beverages are provided, participants with allergies, dietary restrictions or medical requirements should exercise appropriate caution and inform the Organiser where relevant.

The Organiser cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

35. MINORS

Persons below the legally applicable age may be required to attend with, or obtain consent from, a parent or legal guardian.

Where personal data relating to children is collected, the Organiser will comply with applicable legal requirements.

36. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Organiser, TiE Rajasthan, its office bearers, committee members, employees, volunteers, representatives, partners and service providers shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or economic losses arising from participation in or inability to participate in the Event.

This includes, without limitation, loss arising from:

  • missed investment opportunities;
  • unsuccessful pitches;
  • business decisions;
  • participant interactions;
  • programme changes;
  • cancellation or postponement;
  • travel disruption;
  • loss of belongings;
  • third-party services; or
  • circumstances beyond the Organiser’s reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

37. INDEMNITY

Participants agree, to the extent permitted by law, to indemnify and hold harmless the Organiser and its representatives against claims, losses, damages or expenses arising from:

  • breach of these Terms;
  • unlawful conduct;
  • infringement of third-party intellectual property;
  • false or misleading information submitted by the participant; or
  • damage or injury caused by the participant’s actions.

38. NO GUARANTEE OF BUSINESS OUTCOME

Participation in SmashUp does not guarantee:

  • investment;
  • fundraising;
  • customers;
  • partnerships;
  • mentorship;
  • business growth;
  • media coverage;
  • awards;
  • commercial opportunities; or
  • any other specific outcome.

Any statistics, testimonials or success stories presented in relation to previous SmashUp editions are illustrative of historical outcomes and do not guarantee future results.

39. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

The Organiser may update these Terms where reasonably necessary.

The latest version published on the official SmashUp website shall apply.

Material changes may also be communicated through appropriate Event communication channels.

40. SEVERABILITY

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect to the extent permitted by law.

41. WAIVER

Failure by the Organiser to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce that provision subsequently.

42. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.

Subject to applicable law, any dispute arising in connection with the Event, registration, website or these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

43. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

These Terms, together with the applicable Privacy Policy, Cancellation/Refund Policy, registration conditions and any specific written agreement entered into with the Organiser, constitute the terms governing participation in SmashUp.

Where a separate written agreement has been entered into with a sponsor, partner, speaker, investor, exhibitor or other participant, that agreement shall prevail in the event of an inconsistency concerning the subject matter covered by that agreement.

44. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By clicking “Register”, “Apply”, “Buy Ticket”, “Submit” or similar confirmation, or by attending or participating in TiE SmashUp 9.0, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
